and its story about boxing robots has been frequently compared with the “Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots” children's game.  While that may not be entirely false (I spotting what appears to be a brief allusion to the game in the film), however I would be more inclined to describe this film as Rocky with robots.  And that's not a bad thing.

The film has a classic underdog plot structure that, while not that original, makes for an entertaining film.  Each of the fights in the film were progressively bigger than the other and I don't remember the last time I was so excited watching a film.  Even though you could guess how the film is going to turn out (especially if you watched Rocky), its still an exciting journey.  Equally touching is the human story, as a father learns to bond with his young son.

Overall, I found Real Steel to be a real gem of the fall movie season.
