Tropic Thunder

tropic thunder posterWho would have thought that in the end it would be Simple Jack that generated controversy?

In a film that features playing an Australian actor, who darkens his skin to play an African American sergeant, the biggest complaint about this film involves a subplot, where ‘s character plays a mentally disabled person.

While this has been interpreted as making fun of disabled people, it is supposed to make fun of actors playing such roles in order to try and win an Oscar.

That controversy pretty much sets up the tone for this film, which is just as much a satire of Hollywood in general as it is a spoof of War films.

I also have to say that the film was definitely quite funny with Robert Downey Jr. hands-down being the funniest of the three lead actors. Also hilarious is , who is almost unrecognizable as a foul-mouthed studio executive.

I would definitely say that has become my favourite comedy of the year so far.
