Toronto After Dark Announces Spotlight Screenings on August 29 and September 26

tad13-spotlightsFor the second year in a row, the Toronto After Dark Film Festival is going to present a pair of Spotlight Screenings, in advance of the full film festival from October 17-25.  The screenings will take place on August 29 and September 26 at, Toronto After Dark’s new venue, the Scotiabank Theatre.  Both nights will provide a mini Toronto After Dark experience, with two films a night, followed by Pub After Dark at The Office Pub.  These spotlight screenings also gives Toronto After Dark a chance to screen films that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to screen during the main film festival in October.  Tickets will be going on sale on Friday and can be bought at the theatre or through the Cineplex website.  People ordering online will have the bonus of being able to order packages of 2 or 4 screenings.  All orders will also get SCENE points. Without further ado, here is the line-up of the Toronto After Dark 2013 Spotlight Screenings, all of which will be screening theatrically for the first time in Toronto. Bad Milo – August 29, 7:00pm
A horror-comedy about a monster that lives up a guy’s rectum.  It’s definitely a completely ridiculous premise, however based on the film’s trailer, the film will be ultra-gory fun, with practical special effects. V/H/S/ 2 – August 29, 9:30pm
The sequel to last year’s found footage anthology officially arrives in Toronto, after being available on VOD in the States since June.  This film can definitely be considered one of the headliners of the Spotlight Screenings, and I’m quite looking forward to seeing it on the big screen. Europa Report – September 26, 7:00pm
This science fiction film is another film that has been available on VOD in the United States since June, however it definitely looks like a film that has to be seen on the big screen.  The film takes on a bit of found footage format, even though it’s done through mostly static camera shot (i.e. very little motion sickness).  Looking forward to this one. The Dirties – September 26, 9:30pm
Presented by ‘s production company, this a very dark comedy about a pair of movie-obsessed highschoolers, who are planning a school shooting.  This will definitely be an interesting film to see.
