Ultrasound – Fantasia 2021

A strange nighttime encounter kickstarts a life-altering chain of events in . On his way home from a friend’s wedding, Glen () has car trouble and seeks help at the house of the unusual married couple of Art () and Cyndi ( Lopez) and the night ends with Glen being convinced by Art to sleep with Cyndi. Sometime much later, Glen is wheelchair-bound and in a mysterious clinic run by Dr. Conners (), where he is the subject of daily counseling by Shannon ().

Ultrasound is a science fiction thriller by director Rob Schroeder, which stars Vincent Kartheiser (Mad Men) as Glen, whose car breaks down one night and he ends up taking shelter with the married couple of Art and Cyndi, the aftermath of which will change all their lives. It is probably best not to reveal too much of what happens after this opening encounter and how these events relate to a seemingly unrelated subplot involving a woman named Katie () and her boyfriend Alex ().

It will be putting it lightly to say that Ultrasound is a serious mind-twister of the film since it introduces characters and locations without much initial explanation. However, as the pieces of the puzzle begin to come together, including the explanation for the film’s title, Ultrasound ends up being a quite compelling piece of science fiction with many interesting twists and turns.
