Woody Allen’s latest film Midnight in Paris has been out for nearly two months now, however my interest was peaked a few days when it was reported that the film has become the highest grossing film of Allen’s career (thankfully, the film was still playing in Toronto).
You can definitely tell that this is a Woody Allen film, with Owen Wilson taking the role that probably would have been played by Allen himself in his younger years. There is also a fantasy element to the film as Wilson’s character repeatedly finds himself in the 1920s version of Paris, conversing with all his idols.
I do have do say that I quite enjoyed the film and it was interesting to see many interesting characterizations of famous figures, such as F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, and Salvador Dali. It was definitely an entertaining film.
