The 2014 edition of Hot Docs has finally concluded. This was my fourth time attending the festival and my second time providing full coverage as accredited media. I went all out for my media coverage this year, with me beginning to watch screeners of the films a full month prior to the start of the festival. Despite essentially taking up the entire month of April for me, I ended up seeing a grand total of 51 films during this year’s festival, which was more than a quarter of the entire festival line-up. In my opinion, this was a huge accomplishment for a single individual covering a film festival. Not only does this eclipse any previous film festival coverage I’ve done, but it also sets a high bar for my Hot Docs coverage next year. Hopefully, I’ll be up to the challenge when the time comes. I should also note that, in addition to all the films I watched, I also did interviews with the filmmakers of The Overnighters and Meet the Patels.
