What You Wish For Synopsis
What You Wish For is a thriller written and directed by Nicholas Tomnay, starring Nick Stahl (In the Bedroom, Sin City) as troubled chef Ryan, who is quite envious of the seemingly prosperous career of his former culinary school roommate Jack. Grim circumstances arrive that see Ryan assume Jack’s identity in preparing an exclusive meal for upscale clientele. The night is made more complicated when local Detective Ruiz (Randy Vasquez) comes sniffing around.
My Thoughts on What You Wish For
What You Wish For is one of those films best seen knowing as little about the plot as possible. The film quickly takes a quite dark turn after the first act of Ryan reconnecting with his friend Jack after 12 years, as well as the McGuffin of Ryan being pursued by debt collectors. While ultimately not a film that will whet your appetite, What You Wish For ends up being a very twisted thriller with a dark sense of humour.
